About the mentorship scheme
What is the mentorship scheme?
The Law Mentorship Scheme will run again in spring 2023. You will get a personal mentor for the length of the scheme. Our mentors will help introduce you to the legal field during meetings covering topics such as the application process to the law faculty, studies, student life, and career opportunities. The scheme is meant to provide you with an opportunity to ask absolutely any questions you may have, increase your motivation to get into the law faculty, and help connect you to other young students interested in studying law.
Can I apply?
If you are in high school, vocational school or have recently graduated and you are interested in studying law, we would gladly receive your application! There’s no need to have any career plans or knowledge about the field, as the scheme is meant to introduce the field to you. The mentorship meetings are conducted remotely, so you can participate in the scheme from anywhere. We prioritize students, but we will happily review your application even if you have already graduated.
You can complete the scheme in Finnish, Swedish or English.
How do I apply?
The application period ended on 13.10.2024. You can apply via the following link: https://form.typeform.com/to/VDiReTvJ
How long is the scheme?
Your mentorship meetings will take place during November 2024 - March 2025. During this time you will have up to seven meetings with your mentor, but you can choose to have fewer or to combine meeting topics - whatever is best for you and your mentor!
We aim to organize a casual social event attended by the mentors and mentees in Helsinki, and this year it will be held at Roschier at 17.00 on Monday 9 December.
How do you choose the mentees?
We aim to choose mentees who we expect will benefit from mentorship the most. Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of spaces, and cannot accept every applicant. We recommend that you expand on the sort of help you need and what motivated you to apply to the Law Mentorship Scheme. We would also like to know what initially got you interested in pursuing law.
It is important that the mentorship scheme corresponds to the sort of help you need. For example, while there is one meeting on the application process including the entrance exam and answering techniques, we unfortunately do not have the resources to provide tutoring on the exam books.
Can I participate in the mentorship scheme even if I am not planning on studying law in Finland?
Yes! There are plenty of opportunities to pursue law in English outside of Finland, and we are happy to help you explore these options.
